You are bidding on a new set of plans for a 1/12 Scale Piper PA-8 Skycycle. It includes the Plans and the templates/ patterns to make the parts for this unusual looking aircraft.Building instructions are also included. Although designed for rubber power free flight, this would be a great model for electric conversion. Other plans are for sale too. I'll be listing them as I pull them out. This plan is in perfect condition. All of my items come from a totally smoke free environment.

ThePiper PA-8 Skycyclewas a 1940s Americansingle-seat light aircraft designed and built by Piper Aircraft at Lock Haven.Towards the end of 1944 Piper announced a number of aircraft it intended tobuild after the war. One of these was thePWA-8(Post War Airplane 8).An aerodynamic test aircraft was built with the nameCub Cycleand itfirst flew on 27 August 1944 with a small two cylinder Franklin engine. The Franklin engine was replaced by a 37hpContinental A-40-3 and the aircraft first flew with the Continental engine on12 September 1944. The Skycycle was a fabric-covered mid-wing single-enginedsingle-seat monoplane with a tailwheel landing gear. The fuselage was producedusing a belly fuel tank as used on the F4U Corsair. The Cub Cycle was scrappedand a similar but new aircraft was built with the nameSkycycle. TheSkycycle first flew on 29 January 1945 using the same Continental engine as theCub Cycle. The aircraft was further modified in 1945 with a 55hp LycomingO-145-A2 engine and designated thePA-8 Skycycle. No further examples werebuilt.
